4 Keys to Driving a Thriving Culture

PEOPLE ARE A THRIVING COMPANY’S MOST VALUABLE ASSET

Workplace culture is the foundation of an organization and acknowledges that the people within the company are one of the most critical assets a company holds. I am fortunate to be a part of an amazing company that puts culture and its employees and their satisfaction first. Here at Apex, is a wonderful balance of work-life allowing employees to thrive and in turn allows the business to succeed.

It is becoming more common that employees feel more like a number, or person on the pay scale compared to an appreciated member of the organization.

This is something I feel that Apex has been exceptional at since the day I started. From employee appreciation days (Fun Day) to random acts of kindness to even a handwritten thank you note from our founders, Apex is always looking at ways to boost their culture and make sure their employees are happy and appreciated.

Even in times of doubt and uncertainty with Covid this past year, Apex stepped up to the plate assuring the highest standards of safety for patients and employees along with continuing to show their appreciation for all the hard work and increased dedication to get through such a grueling and difficult year.

There is something to be said when your employees enjoy coming to work and not dread yet another workday. When employees not only get along in the workplace but looking for ways to engage and get together outside of work time as well.

So, what are the keys to creating and driving a thriving culture?

Number one is setting clear goals and promoting them! At the end of every year Apex highlights all the major milestones and accomplishments of not only the organization but employees as well, from new additions to family to certifications everyone from front desk to our therapists feels included.

Number two is allowing for humor but being respectful! During our team meetings we have a great balance between accomplishing tasks at hand but also allowing for added humor or the occasional “off topic” conversation. This takes the “edge” off and also allows employees to feel more comfortable making suggestions or opening up about different topics.

Number three is establishing an employee recognition program, Apex has created “Apex Applause” allowing any employee to applaud another member for a random act of kindness or thank them for a job not in their “duty list”. We start our meetings reading all the applauses and again give employees the appreciation others notice such as simple actions and nice things done for each other on a daily basis.

Lastly, is utilizing and accepting employee feedback.

We are given the opportunity to give anonymous feedback for almost every activity or event throughout the year allowing for change if needed but again allowing employees to feel their thoughts and imputes are valued and used to make the company better.

I cannot express my appreciation and thankfulness to Apex and the countless acts of service not only to their patients and community but to its employees as well. The moment you walk in our door you can sense the positive vibe and atmosphere and the quality care our patients receive. This starts from the appreciation given to their employees, giving them the freedom to treat and care for patients as they see fit.

This can only be accomplished from a supportive and outstanding culture which we like to call “The Apex Way”.
