Do you suffer from recurring Groin Strains?

Physical Therapy for Groin Strains

Groin or adductor muscle strains can be a common injury for those who are active. They can occur with a specific forcible contraction while being stretched, or with repetitive overuse. These injuries are more frequently seen in recreational sports and are more common in those who have had previous hip injuries. Other factors that may increase your risk for injury include weakness, tightness, and often muscle fatigue when the injuries occur. This means that treatment of these recurring injuries is often geared toward increasing strength, ROM, and endurance of the adductor muscle group. The other big piece in recovery is often manually working into the affected muscles to help maximize your recovery. These injuries are also often nagging and stick with us for long periods of time with an up-and-down recovery.

What PT can do for groin strains

This is where going to Physical Therapy can be a key part of recovery and help in preventing future injuries. There are multiple muscles in the adductor group that can be injured, so your PT will help to accurately identify the affected muscle. Then they will help you to specifically work on the loading and stretching of the affected muscles to maximize recovery.

Here at Apex we can help you with all of those things and give you the hands-on manual treatment to help get you back to all of your activities. So if you suffer or have suffered from groin/adductor strains going to your Physical Therapist can be the missing piece to help get you back to normal.
