Let’s face it–2020 has been nothing short of a roller coaster of events and emotions. It has been a tough year for many of us- physically, mentally and emotionally. Add being in the post-partum population into the mix and you really have been dealt a full hand this year! In many ways, moms are superhuman- essentially the glue that keeps your family together. With that being said, PLEASE remember to take care of yourself just as much as you take care of your family– they need you to be happy and healthy just as much as you need them to be!
Are you struggling to get rid of that baby pouch?
Can’t seem to run like your pre-baby days because you have an urge to use the bathroom every 30 minutes?
Do you still feel weak when you pick up your little one, or do you have low back pain while doing your daily activities around the house?
Do you have pain with intercourse or tampon use?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, (or if you are experiencing any other weird symptoms following childbirth) you are not alone! Over 50% of women who give birth, both naturally and via cesarian, experience some sort of orthopedic or pelvic floor dysfunction.
Due to lack of awareness, embarrassment around these issues, and thinking that this is just a normal’ part of being a mom, many women do not know where or how to seek help. Many mothers do not even realize help is available.
Although diastasis recti and bladder incontinence are two of the most common side effects after childbirth, some other full-body effects on a woman’s body during and after pregnancy include:
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, or even other orthopedic issues that make you feel abnormal, physical therapy is a great choice for you!
Google advice to resume ‘gradually’ to exercises is not enough. Our team of highly skilled pelvic health therapists at Apex will perform a full evaluation tailored to your individual needs and goals. Together, we will come up with a plan of care that is tailored specifically to you.
Improve your overall wellness for future pregnancies and daily life. Whether it be returning to training for that triathlon you’ve always dreamt of doing or simply feeling strong and capable of picking up your child without pain, let us help you achieve your goals and feel like the super mom that you are.
Let’s make 2021 your best year yet!
