IT Band Syndrome
Iliotibial band syndrome is a common cause of knee pain and usually occurs due to irritation of the iliotibial band (ITB) from repetitive or prolonged activities and muscle dysfunction. The IT band runs along the outside of your thigh from the pelvis to the knee.
Common symptoms include:
- A stabbing or stinging pain around the knee
- Feelings of snapping when straightening the knee
- Swelling around the knee
- Tightness and pain around the hip
