Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis is inflammation and wearing away of cartilage located at the knee joint. There are many possible causes of knee arthritis, but typically you may notice it come on insidiously or after a traumatic knee injury. As the disease progresses, surgical intervention may be necessary and physical therapy will continue to be beneficial for your return to function.
Symptoms common in this condition include:
- Pain or stiffness with activity or after sitting/standing in a position for a prolonged period
- Popping or grinding sensations
- Swelling
- Tenderness in the knee joint.
