Ligament Reconstruction
During an ankle ligament reconstruction, your surgeon will tighten and firm up one or more ligaments on either side of your ankle, depending on the location of instability. This procedure is indicated when an individual has chronic or repeated ankle sprains and the ligaments become loose or weak, leading to further injury.
Following your operation, a physical therapist can work with you to help you regain your function. They may have you perform range of motion and strengthening exercises, follow an individualized home exercise program, and focus on activity-specific training to avoid any future injuries.
Your treatment may include:
- Develop a home exercise program
- Regain strength and motion
- Begin progressing activities
At Apex, your physical therapist will assess your body after surgery and work with you to create a treatment plan that best suits your individual goals and needs.
