Knee Conditions

Meniscal Tear

Meniscal tears are injuries to the cartilage discs separating the bones in the knees. Meniscal tears can occur from acute trauma, such as twisting or turning quickly on a bent knee, or from degeneration over time. Some meniscal tears may require surgical intervention, but physical therapy will continue to be essential.

Common symptoms of this condition are:

  • Sharp and intense pain in the knee,
  • A “pop” or tearing sensation
  • Swelling
  • Difficulty moving the knee or walking.

At Apex, a therapist will assess the joint and work with you to develop a plan of care that best suits your needs and goals.
