Hip arthritis is the wearing down of cartilage lining the hip joint. This condition can occur at any age but is most common in older adults. Since osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition and the cartilage wears down, this tends to worsen with time. There is a range of treatment options from a conservative like physical therapy and invasive like surgery. Physical therapy helps patients both pre and post surgery
Common symptoms of hip arthritis include:
- Pain at the hip, groin, thigh, knee, or buttocks
- Stiffness, and weakness of the affected lower extremity,
- A crunching sound when moving the hip
- Pain with regular daily activities.
