Following a complete or partial tear of the quadricep or patellar tendon, surgical repair is usually necessary to regain function. During this procedure, your surgeon will re-attach the torn tendon to the knee cap.
Following your operation, a physical therapist can work with you to help you regain knee range of motion and lower extremity strength. They will develop a personalized plan of care that may include a home exercise plan, manual therapy, and stretching and strength exercises.
