Ulnar Collateral Ligament Injury
Ulnar collateral ligament injuries occur when repetitive stress damages the inside of the elbow. These injuries are common in “overhead” sports (e.i, volleyball, softball, tennis, etc.) which require repetitive stress and additional trauma to the area. Sometimes, surgical intervention may be necessary, but physical therapy will continue to be essential for your recovery.
Symptoms may include:
- soreness along the inside of your elbow
- swelling or bruising
- possible numbness and tingling into the arm
- instability at the elbow joint
- pain when using the arm overhead
At Apex, a physical therapist will work with you to create a treatment plan that best suits your needs and personal goals.
