Video: Recover from Marathon Running

Running a marathon is a huge accomplishment.

Now it’s time to recover. Your recovery will be different than anyone else’s.

Right after the race, stay on your feet and walk for at least 10 minutes.
Eat or drink slowly.
Two hours after the race, a cold shower can help with muscle recovery.
Stretching after the race will also be important.

A massage can be useful roughly a week after the marathon. Don’t go big, but gradually return to your running mileage.
