Pediatrics Physical Therapy
Growing kids need specialized care; that’s why they see pediatricians instead of a general practitioner. At Apex Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, our physical therapists love working with their pediatric patients. We do our best to make each visit as enjoyable as possible. We want them to look forward to their appointments at Apex. The therapies we offer at Apex can help children improve:
- Motor development
- Strength
- Range of motion
- Endurance
- Balance
- Coordination
- Gait difficulties
- Digestive & bowel dysfunctions
- Bladder control
- Delayed motor development
Pediatric Medical Conditions
The kids we treat at Apex often have congenital medical issues which have prompted parents to seek physical therapy for their child. Those medical issues may relate to pre-mature birth, injury, or disease. Some of the common medical conditions which precede physical therapy treatment of children, include:
- Cerebral palsy
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Chronic pain
- Cystic fibrosis
- Cancer
- Scoliosis
- ADD/ADHD
- Developmental delays and movement disorders
- Torticollis
Manual Therapy for Children
One of the things that sets Apex apart when it comes to outpatient pediatric physical therapy is the training our therapists have in several manual therapy techniques. Manual therapy techniques commonly used with our pediatric patients include:
- Craniosacral therapy
- Visceral manipulation
- Myofascial release
- ASTYM
- Postural Restoration (PRI)
- Neuro-manipulation
As with all our patients, the treatment plan for each child is custom designed to meet their individual goals. The physical therapist will work together with the parents, their developmental team and the child to develop this treatment plan following an initial assessment and diagnosis. The treatment plan may incorporate home exercise and behavior modifications to supplement the hands-on treatment during your appointments.
Progress Assessments
Progress assessments are an integral part of our treatment plans. Your Apex therapist will carefully track your child’s progress in each visit. Parents and any referring physicians will receive updated reports on the child’s progress towards the goals set in their initial treatment plan. When necessary, treatment plans will be reassessed and adjusted to facilitate improved results.
Choose Apex as your outpatient pediatric physical therapy provider. Your kids will be glad you did. We have three convenient North Dakota locations to choose from: Fargo, Jamestown, and LaMoure.
